You can see a lot of stars and you can also see the Milky Way.

The photo below was taken in “Llanos del Hospital”, at the end of the Benasque valley.
In this point a small valley with some of the highest Pyrenees peaks starts. This is a really impressive valley and worth the visit.

If you click on the photo you will see the star trails around the north start.

Canon EOS 20-D | Canon 10-22mm
10mm | f/4.0 | 1072.0 s | ISO 200

Winter in Alt Pirineu natural park

The Alt Pirineu natural park is the largest park in Catalonia.

The target zone of this article is close to Alòs d’Isil town. Once you reach the town, a gravel road goes through the park, passing close to Montgarri and finishing in Pla de Beret.

This area is still in good pristine conditions and you can find some interesting wildlife. In our few visits we have seen chamois, deer and fox as most remarkable animals.

The access to the park in winter can be challenging because of snow. Usually the road is full of snow and going there with a 2WD car can be difficult. We got there by 4WD and by snowmobile.
We planned the session to be inside the park early in the morning to take pictures of wildlife, but it was an unlucky day a no animals were present, so we spend time doing some landscape photography to the snowy environment.

Night photography

This weekend I've been trying some night photography.
Night conditions are not the best because moon is still visible so it's no as dark as it can be.
Finally I've managed two good pictures.
These pictures have been taken close to Colera, a small town from Alt Empordà, Catalonia.

Puffins

A visit to the Farne islands was one of the main targets of our trip around the United Kingdom. In these islands you can find a colony of Atlantic puffins.

The Puffins (Atlantic puffin) are abirds that live most of the time on the ocean, but on breeding season they come to the coast. The season start around April and lasts until begging of August. Our visit was on July 29th and we still found a good number of them.

To reach the island you should take a boat that sails from Seahouses to the island.
Our boat operator was Farne Islands. On the way to the islands you can see some seals, so one cannot get bored.

We had bad luck because we wake up with a very foggy day so our boat was delayed a couple of times. Finally the fog get lighter and we could go to the islands. As we departed very late we could only visit one island instead of the two islands of the initial plan.

In spite of the fog we got some good images. The flying puffin was the most difficult one, the fog and the flying speed was a big issue to get a good focus on the bird.

All the pictures were taken using Canon 100-400 and Canon 20D.
